Sheer Curtains
A fine fabric that filters daylight, keeping the room bright and private.
A fine layer that filters the light
A sheer curtain is a fine, light-filtering fabric that lets daylight in while softening it. By day you keep your view out, while someone looking in cannot make out the room. As the layer that spends the most time in front of the window, the sheer sets much of a room's mood.
Fabric and texture
Linen-textured sheers diffuse the light as they filter it and look natural; plain, fine sheers sit lighter and more transparent. Patterned and embroidered sheers suit classic rooms. You choose the fabric from our sample books in your own light, and we look together at how the same sheer stands at noon and in the evening.
Heading and length
How a sheer falls depends on its heading and its length. Headings that give even waves draw a calm line in modern rooms; classic gathered headings look fuller. Whether the hems come down to the floor or stop just above it, we decide together according to the floor and how the window is used.
Sewing, fitting and guarantee
Your sheers are sewn in our own workshop to the measurements we take in your home, and orders are ready within 3–8 working days. Our own team fits the track or pole; we usually plan the sheer with a drape on the same track, as two layers. Like all our products, our sheer curtains carry a 3-year guarantee, and our washing and care support goes on after delivery.
Frequently asked questions
Does a sheer curtain show the room at night?
When it is bright inside and dark outside, a sheer lets the light through and can partly show the room. For privacy at night we recommend a drape or a roller blind alongside the sheer.
How do I wash sheer curtains?
Most sheers can be washed at a low temperature on a delicate cycle; follow the instructions on the fabric's label. Hanging them while still damp reduces creasing. Our washing and care support goes on after delivery.
Should a sheer reach the floor?
That depends on the room's style and use. Hems that come down to the floor look more elegant and whole; at windows that open often or sit above a radiator, a length that stops just above the floor is more practical. We decide together when we measure.
How are sheers and drapes used together?
The most common set-up hangs the sheer and the drape as two layers on a double-channel track: the sheer filters daylight in front of the glass, the drapes frame the window either side and close when needed. Choosing their colours and textures together keeps the layers in harmony.
